Sun Life Direct Research on Social Fund Payments

Really interesting research done by the Centre for Death and Society at Bath Universtiy on behalf of Sun Life Direct. It has been clear for a very long time that Social Fund payments have not kept up with real funeral costs, with the shortfall often being more than double. I believe we at Chester Pearce have a responsibility to our clients whatever their financial situation, and so will always do everything we can to make the funeral affordable. Our flexible approach to our funeral arrangements, and ensuring that clients only pay for what they are having enables us to achieve this. While we as funeral directors can do all we can to assist bereaved clients with financial concerns, the government must also do more to help. Increasing the payment to a more realistic figure, AND making it far more simple for funeral directors to gain confirmation that a client is eligible for assistance.
